ตามที่ปรากฏกรณีเด็กนักเรียนชายรายหนึ่งใช้อาวุธปืนกราดยิงภายในโรงเรียนเทพศิรินทร์ จังหวัดนนทบุรี เมื่อช่วงสายของวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม 2569 เป็นเหตุให้ครูและนักเรียนหลายรายได้รับบาดเจ็บ และเสียชีวิต ขณะที่นักเรียนผู้ก่อเหตุได้ปลิดชีวิตตัวเองในเวลาต่อมานั้น

            คณะกรรมการสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งชาติ (กสม.) ขอแสดงความเสียใจอย่างสุดซึ้งไปยังครอบครัวของผู้เสียชีวิต ผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บ และผู้ได้รับผลกระทบจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว เหตุการณ์นี้นับเป็นเหตุสลดและสะเทือนขวัญที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อความรู้สึกของสังคมอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากเกิดขึ้นในสถานศึกษาซึ่งควรเป็นพื้นที่ปลอดภัยที่สุดสำหรับเด็กทุกคน และเป็นการก่อเหตุโดยเยาวชนซึ่งยังไม่บรรลุนิติภาวะ

            กสม. ขอให้หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเร่งเยียวยาความเสียหายทั้งต่อชีวิตและจิตใจของเด็กนักเรียน ผู้ปกครอง และบุคลากรทางการศึกษาที่เกี่ยวข้องทันที ทั้งในระยะสั้นและระยะยาว เพื่อลดภาวะบาดแผลทางจิตใจจากเหตุการณ์รุนแรง รวมถึงหาทางป้องกันไม่ให้เกิดเหตุในลักษณะนี้ขึ้นอีก พร้อมกันนี้ ขอเน้นย้ำถึงหลักการสิทธิเด็กตามอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยสิทธิเด็ก (CRC) ที่ประเทศไทยเป็นภาคีและมีพันธกรณีต้องปฏิบัติตาม โดยขอความร่วมมือสื่อมวลชนและประชาชนผู้ใช้สื่อสังคมออนไลน์งดเว้นการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลหรืออัตลักษณ์ส่วนบุคคลที่อาจระบุตัวตนของนักเรียนผู้ก่อเหตุและครอบครัว และขอให้ทุกฝ่ายเคารพในสิทธิความเป็นส่วนตัวของเด็กทุกคนทั้งผู้เสียชีวิตและผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บเพื่อมิให้เกิดการตอกย้ำบาดแผลจากเหตุรุนแรงโดยคำนึงถึงประโยชน์สูงสุดของเด็กทุกคนเป็นสำคัญ

           สุดท้ายนี้ กสม. ขอให้กำลังใจผู้ได้รับผลกระทบทุกฝ่ายและเชื่อมั่นว่าสังคมไทยจะเรียนรู้และก้าวผ่านเหตุรุนแรงนี้ได้ เพื่อปกป้องเด็กทุกคนให้เติบโตในสภาพแวดล้อมที่ปลอดภัย

Statement of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT)

Expressing Deep Condolences over the Shooting Incident
at Debsirin School

          The National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) expresses its profound sorrow over the tragic shooting incident that occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi Province during the late morning of 7 August 2026. The incident reportedly involved a male student who opened fire within the school premises, resulting in several teachers and students being injured and killed. The student involved subsequently took his own life.

          The NHRCT wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, to the injured, and to all those affected by this incident. The incident is deeply distressing and has profoundly affected society, particularly as it occurred in an educational institution, which should be a safe and secure environment for every child, and involved a minor who had not yet reached the age of majority.

          The NHRCT calls upon the relevant authorities to expedite remedies for the loss of lives and mental distress to the students, parents, and education personnel affected by the incident, both in the short and long term to help them cope with and recover from the trauma. At the same time, the authorities should undertake appropriate measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents. The NHRCT further emphasizes the importance of upholding the principles enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), to which Thailand is a State Party and is therefore bound to respect, protect and fulfil the rights recognized therein.

          In this regard, the NHRCT calls upon members of the media and the public, including users of social media platforms, to refrain from disseminating personal information or identifying details concerning the student involved in the incident and his family. All parties are urged to respect the right to privacy of every child, including both those who lost their lives and those who were injured or otherwise affected.  This is to avoid further traumatizing children and their families, keeping  the best interests of the child a primary consideration.

        The NHRCT extends its solidarity to all those affected and remains confident that Thai society can learn from this tragedy and work together to ensure that every child can grow and develop in a safe and supportive environment.
